On a plane from Melbourne to Brisbane

(Did you get some sleep there?)

Naw, 'cause I was surrounded by thirty twelve-year-old girls from the

Queensland gymnastics team

(What were they up to?)

Little ones next to me were laughing and whispering too

(What a nightmare)

Yeah and they kept staring at me like I was some exotic animal at the zoo

(What did you think of Brisbane?)

It was pretty, I found a sunny spot and drank beer all day

(Sounds lovely)

Yeah I did fine, actually

(Did you make any friends?)

Yeah I did, I met some really great people down there

(Did you write any songs?)

Um, just this one really

(How was your show at the Sydney Opera House?)

Oh it was great, y’know?

It was amazing to play there

(Did you have a band?)

Yeah I had a band just for that one show, um, and all the rest were solo shows

(Did anyone come to your solo shows?)

I mean, not really, but I still enjoyed 'em

(What about them did you enjoy?)

Uh, people seemed to actually like those art history songs I wrote, so y’know,

it was encouraging

(Do you like to be alone?)

Yeah I’ve always liked to be alone

(Does it give you time to think?)

Yeah, I mean, that’s what I like about it

(What do you think about?)

Uh, I don’t know… I think about lots of things

(Like what?)

Uh, you know, I think about like… songs I’m working on, and I think about my

kids and my wife and I think about the future… I think about death

(Death?)

Yeah, I mean, doesn’t everyone?

(Do you believe in the afterlife?)

Uh I don’t know actually, do you?

Yeah, I mean, it’d be great but who knows, y’know?
