Happy Holiday - The Hotknives

A chance encounter in a mutual place,

a sea of strangers, a familiar face.

A conversation catching up on recent times.

She’ll be okay now if she stays sat down,

but she’s persuaded to a club in town

another gain to her list of recent crimes.

I wouldn’t say that what I’ve done is wrong,

feel out of place now where I’d once belong

and when you look at it and put it in perspective

it looks bad, and you know that you can’t deny it.

So all the mileage didn’t count for much

There’s no hard feelings but, won’t be in touch.

Your choosy memory forgot the things I’ve done.

So leave her out of this, it’s not her fight,

she saw a glimmer in a faded light.

It’s not a war, so I haven’t lost or won.
