To the World - Woebegone

Remember how we swore we’d never let go of our lives?

We’d never let the beauty of this world fade away into the night

This is a call to every dormant soul that’s trapped

Into a body that keeps it from the light

Remember how we fought against all odds for a better day?

And how slowly we sold ourselves out, and put our happiness away

How we let go every passion, kicked every feeling out the door

And now we’ve seen it all unravel, we’re left wondering «what for?»

Start from this thought, speaking of God, what if there’s no one out there?

What if it just watches careless as you sing your chants of despair?

How do you sleep at night, wondering if you are wasting the gift of this life

Wonder if it’s all that you have, all around nobody cares, all around nobody

dares

I feel that this world could be a much better place

If we just allowed ourselves to love, to laugh, to cry, to look into each

other’s eyes and and listen to each other’s words and to

Exist into each other’s thoughts

And stay together in the cold of the night

Because in the end all we have is one other, and no matter how strong, or rich,

we’re all heading to the same place

We’re all given the same space, and we can all enjoy it while we can,

or we can fight endless wars for things we will never own

This is a call to you my friends

It doesn’t have to be like this

And we can change the world

And this is what I’m fighting for
