Be Like Me -

You should have done it when you had the chance

These sins not committed become sins of omission so fast

when you’ve got nothing but time to think of the past

It shouldn’t matter, the things that you’ve done

Faces, and places, and names, and shame in the dark

And I don’t wanna know — but I do wanna know

Why can’t you be like me?

Disgusted with the way things are

Embarrassed about how they were

and frightened about how they’ll be

You don’t know the half of it, I can’t even grab at it

I’m down to the bone

I’m all thumbs and apathy, there’s no need to laugh at me

I’ll do that on my own

You take the passion out of the Christ

and all that you’re left with is a naked woman, enticed

and a a man in distress because his garden’s a mess

Be like me!
