Pull the bed sheets from underneath the stairs

Right there, right where you said I’d tremble and stare at the vast unforgiving

spirit lurking there

But it takes time to recognize

Forgiveness in her likeness

Forming shape inside the floor

Beginning to remember why I ever cared at all

Unfair is the mountain cold as the television airs

Nothing completely void of a spirit there

That there is forgiveness forming shape inside of me

For everything embodying that spirit within me
