One day when I was fifteen

Years, the autumn thirty three

My dad came home and he

Said, who will now pay

For mom, you and me

He’d been fired from his

Work that day, him and many more

Now recession was here

Times of anger and fear

He never got to work anymore

Mom and dad were fighting

A lot, and dad he drank to forget

When he moved out

He hugged me tight, he was

Crying with regret

Same old story, like yesterday

They live while all the others have to pay

They take it all from us

We’re just numbers in their heads

The more they abuse us

The more we’re seeing red

Way backin the golden years

When things were said and done

In the industry at the

Factory, there was work for everyone

We were two hundred

Workers, we did our best

Working in gases and dust

Though inside we knew for

The privileged few, they

Faced us with disgust

All across our wealthy land it

Came from the worker’s hand

I did better for sure but I

Can’t ignore that the price I

Payed was grand
