Falling short is the only thing I have ever known

Calloused heart, burdened soul

A slave to their expectations

A hostel disguised as a home

A lesson in humility

To expose the corruption

That lives within me

You do it publicly, for them all to see

Hollow grace

Half-hearted sympathy

You call me the black sheep

A poor misguided soul

You were the reason

I was ashamed

To bear the same name

And for a moment

I walked away and denied my faith

But through the noise, I still found clarity

A still small voice kept me hear

Now I can see truth through the lies

And I forgive you or at least I’m trying
