Orion

I could see you looking down

Small houses

They were built into the ground

At a distance

You can’t see what’s falling down

If you’re up close

You can almost hear the sound

Of someone I remember

We would pack our things into the car

Though we never got too far

It’s a wonder to discover

How the winter finds its way to spring

Being young meant everything

In the summer

Constellations

Are you laughing at us all?

We rage

As we watch our heroes fall

If they’re up there

Remember them to me

Like my grandpa

On the beach of Normandy

In the summer we remember

While Orion’s sword is burning out

Lovers long forgotten now

There were mothers who discover

The winter finds its way to spring

Parents don’t know everything

Oh, the stars the still the same

And slowly they explode

To be young and insecure

It’s the cost of wanting more
