They wait for me, standing apart

Wearing a white-dyed coat

Looks like a trial by jury

Have I been charged by all of them?

A woman from the background

tries to speak some words,

and step by step,

that whisper comes into my ears:

Sometimes we feel unsure

that life will reserve the best for us,

and all our waking dreams are just a memory

It’s up to us to build up

our home, our shelter and our church

A hot lap where I can feel welcome back

Nothing never changes

unless you understand

Out there, no rope is near

that you can hang on to help yourself

A scissors' army is ready to slash the rest

Restive and never peaceful
