It’s a shame

It’s a sin

But there’s no point in anything

Someone once told me that nihilism was liberating

That one that was uncovered in an event and in meaning

That we’re not lost in a sea of disinteresting stars

But we’re the only engine running in a world of parked cars

My friend recommended the life of a hedonist

Truth be told I don’t think that I have the head for it

Was once inviting but it didn’t pan out

In the build up before I plagued with such doubt

All the things that you want but you canny just do

But thre’s no point in anything

Delicate walls

Paper thin

Shelter us from everything

And one of only true first dates I’ve been on

I said I didn’t fear death to impress someone

The truth is that’s only at most half true

If you don’t think about something, can’t be scared of it, can you?

And is such the preservative power of the mind

That it hid something so well there’s no chance that you’ll find

I feel a reckoning

But I’m reckoning there ain’t no maker beckoning

Just the unsolvable puzzle of consciousness
