I’ll try not to seem too desperate

But I’m slipping under

Bringing you no closer to me

My lungs have swelled and torn

Bring me back to the surface

I’ll never meet the rising tide

I’ll never face the setting sun

Time pinched me out like a candle

I’ll be left all alone

No floor left to stand on

No walls left to tear down

No anchor left to drop

No hand left to hold on

These aren’t my thoughts

They’re not in my head

I’ll never make it home
