The day there was no death

The day that no one turned up late

Call it luck or act of God

Or a simple twist of chance

The reaper was denied and no one died

No accidents no murders

Not a single overdose

One guy fell out of an airplane

And was saved by a murder of crows

Starving people everywhere

Found enough to last the day

The undertakers cried and no one died

And no one had to leave

And no one was bereaved

Everybody stuck around

Except the daisies who stayed down

Every gun misfired

Every hand grenade went click

Smart bombs got a little smarter

And learned how to call in sick

A power cut in Texas

Meant a party on Death Row

Nobody got fried and no one died

Six billion survived that day

Somehow against all odds

That night we went to bed immortal Thinking we were gods

The next day when we woke up

And all the normal rules applied

Most of us survived but something died
