As It Rises -

Buildings collapse

Rivers rise up

Against the city walls

The ocean roars

With laughter as

She wipes the slate clean

For the first time in days

The rain lets up

Soft white clouds

Dot a clear blue sky

And here we are

Looking down from the highest tower

Surrounded by the sea

As it rises

Sunlight gleams

On the crests of the waves

And the bodies of the dead

That float serenely by

And there is no one

Left but us

And the seabirds

Floating in the sky
