Holy Water - Pagan

It started when I was young and

Couldn’t sleep in bed

I pulled my mattress down the hall and

Slept on it instead

Every time I closed my eyes I

Couldn’t feel my legs

Snot would dribble out my nose and

Visions would flood my head

My parents threw holy water

All across my skin

I told them to get that shit off of me

But they could not hear it

My knee caps are all smashed up

From falling to the floor

These genuflections stop me from

Going in the church front door

When I started growing up

These symptoms because worse

I started chanting passages

And poems in foreign words

My eyes would turn from green to black

And I’d stare for hours on end

Instead of taking me to a doctor

The priest held out his hand
