It’s the overwhelming politics that abound

This relationship of ours like ticks on a hound

Break bread with the heathen brother of mine

And leave me alone hanging out to dry

When I need to feel cleansed by the distant holy water

Sitting high and out of reach atop the alter

Where my unclean hands aren’t worth the time

Of the almighty, the righteous, the pure and divine
