Since when did suicide become so fashionable?

It’s like every time we look up, there’s something else

We say we tryna find it but don’t know if we can face ourselves

We just wanna breathe and leave this ditch that we dug

If only we woulda known it takes hate to create love

Can the pen rescue us or is it just a crutch, that we use to substitute for

your touch?

Irresponsible, only worries He-Man and Tonka trucks

We’re here because our gifts can’t blossom without permission

Everyone wants us to give but there’s nothing left

It seems our self-esteem is inching closer to death

Thinking with our own minds has led us to this paper

Somebody needs to take the lead but we’re scared to ask our maker

Can we breathe?

The answer’s there but we can’t find it

Seems that we’re content walking this road blinded

For some strange reason, it’s like we’re lost with purpose like

Someday this path will reveal that we’re not worthless

If only to breathe, we’d see the calling on our lives

And wake from this nightmare and find the heart to fight

We slit our wrist for the last time to find meaning

And this being is just a drum that we’re desperately beating

Are we supposed to breathe?

Because our lungs feel inoperative and helpless

You can’t walk if you don’t have the legs to stand on

And you can’t attempt to be humble if you’re headstrong

Will we feel any better if we start believing?
