Reeking Within - Fetid

Deep inside the ribs the scraping pierces

Bouncing off of reflections lost

Shadows in the mist

Delve ever deeper

Echoing through you…

Clenching tightly to intestinal walls

Sinuous paths

Shrieking calls

Building presence

The haunting

Fills your eyes

As you see…

Pouring out

A blood stream

Of self doubt

A waking dream

Of pure loss

Under the cross

In the cemetery

Thick with fog

The face peering

From beyond

The gravestone

Near the pond

Where the souls

Seek sleep

It speaks loud

And clear…

With a voice

You can’t hear

Feel its breath

Feel your fear

All this time

Inside you

Another half

Split in two

Flowing through the skin

Lymph to limbs

Strung all throughout

It waits within

As you lay your body in the grass

The graves speak of a past

Of one you never knew

Of one without you

Just as it will be

Once this night is through

Focus shifting back

To the scraping sound

The time seeps in

To the hole you dig below

The dirt piles

In around

You’re engulfed

No sound

No sight

To be seen

Now awake from

This horrid dream

Feel its breath

Feel your fear

The time is now

They are here

You know how

So close your eyes

Then die…
