Cold, numb, longing to succumb — fetal creature wise and heaven-wrought

Lost, stark, clawing in the dark — Cosmic consciousness devoid of thought

Ancient — hidden from sight

This curse, this wretched joy — Bequeathed unbidden to her, this blighted baby

The hooded figures crown her, the harbinger of doom — Anointed unrepentant,

destined for Earthly tomb

Proud, strong, whispering her song — Lullabies to soothe the seething beast

Black, night, hex protects from fright — And fire burns to warm their fragile

peace

What’s this infernal racket, upon the cabin door?

— Pitchforks and torches

blazing, these cries of «Burn the whore!»?

Their dirty fingers grabbing, their greedy mouths agape — Their crucifixes

gleaming, prohibiting escape

We’ll feed the worms this lustful,

loathsome hag!»

With daggers drawn, for her and her spawn, «We'll burn the farmer’s daughter

bound and gagged!»
