Failure to Communicate - Dirty Revolution

It’s hard sometimes to speak my mind

A sympathetic ear is never easy to find

In a world where we’re taught to be quiet and obey

Is there any wonder why we don’t have much to say?

When religious wars are being fought to the death

If you’re speaking for God my friend you’re out of your depth

When it’s the same kind of message you’re trying to preach

You talk about love and you talk about peace

But somewhere along the line your wires are crossed

And somewhere along the line your message is lost

Now everybody’s talking

And I think that what is missing

Is ability to listen to what is being said

Instead of blankly nodding your head

Ignoring what you hear cos you’re waiting

For your chance to speak

They’ll blame it on love

They’ll blame it on hate

I call that a failure to communicate
