It was a lifetime ago, as brothers we lived at home

There was a fond farewell as I sailed away alone

All of these years I’ve been travelling

No one could dream the things I have seen

All of these years I’ve been wandering

Back to this land, back to these leas

Here on this earth, far overseas

Brother I’ve tales to toll

as we gather round your hearth

And I have songs as well that tell of exotic arts

All of these years of great skill and care

You stayed right here and raised up a home

All of these years I’ve been everywhere

I was your eyes, I was your ears

Over the earth, far overseas
