Just when I had everything figured out

I let too many words open my small mouth

He held me once in a room

It was unattended, and it tasted of an artist’s perfume

He graced my naked back

My only sheet was a black dress

Woke up to a cold windy city

Woke up trying to keep the memory

I was poisoned into lying through my teeth

While his words were spoken only truthfully

Lost my shoes in the mud

Walked away clean, trying to be tough

I was trying to be tough

There’s nothing in between love and hate

When it comes down to it

So you can walk clean away

Or you can act in the play

That we so easily put on for them

There was residence of hope in my heart

Til' I got dealt the unlucky card

Though the buildup was fun

The letdown wasn’t worth it all

So I stole us our midnight drinks

And he got dealt our morning fix

Then we let the honesty pour

Until it knocked us out into a deep sleep, into a bad dream

Is this a bad dream?

He said he used to be like me

A musical mess, depressed, with anxiety

My ears only took half of his advice

Happiness comes so easily to him

For me it’s a fight, it’s always been a fight

There’s nothing in between lovers and friends

When it comes down to it

So we can go our seperate ways, I mean this was just a stage of the rest of our

lives
