Your voice my favorite sound

A tall choice I may never live down

They are shrouding their faces with their hands

A subtle restraining by design

How am I expected to come so much farther out

They are declaring both sides

I’m awake and I’m declaring my side

One push then another

One view hides the other

All sides come together

Holding up holding in

With a hand raised and standing their ground

Comes a cold shame pouring down from their mouths

These boundaries designed to leave us fazed

A subtle device to urge me down

And still I am expected to come so much farther out

Now you are sound safe so they say

Come around come away holding out
