Through the water dark and deep

Their meaning tells a story

Whose secret the water keeps

The pool never turns to ice

Or reflects the infinite sky

The sun never warms its depth

And no creatures there reside

This is a pool of tears they say

From a maiden fair

Who drowned her sorrows there

And on some moonlit night

You will hear her voice so clear

Echo across the shivering moon

But you’ll find no one there
