On the 7th of May, our sloop left the quay

'Twas the good ship Fortune’s Favour

We had us a crew, twenty men stout and true

Not known for their good behaviour

Jolly pirates are we, hardy men of the sea

On a quest for riches and wives

And if any men try our will to deny

They will be lucky to leave with their lives

And though nobody knows how hard the wind blows

Well we sailed day and night, with no danger in sight

Till the cook found a barrel of cider

Without any doubt, we passed it about

Till soon there was none left inside her

Well we danced all around, we fought and fell down

As we rolled about in song and revelry

We were far from the dock when our ship hit a rock

And she sank to the bottom of the sea

Who were overly eager to eat us

But with death looming nigh, a mermaid swam by

And she seemed very happy to meet us

She conveyed us to shore, twenty-two leagues or more

And she showed us her island home

And it’s never more we’ll roam
