I always told myself that we would never part

Forgetting all the reasons we held back from the start

We’re finding one another in what we call our test,

And everything we put forth to make us second best from the rest

The feeling defining what I’ve got is something when you’re here, now you’re not

We’re taken to the places that we could never see

Looking at what we always thought we’d be

Taken back to disarray;

another time, another day

Promises and time elapse;

a broken smile, a sure collapse

You’re the reason I try;

setting up for our life,

So we can go way back in time to the front of the starting line

Now we can go back home

Finding out that you’re on this ride, do you feel pain inside?

Headed back, now I’m on the run to where my life’s begun

Visions of the lies we tell;

we can’t erase, we always fell

Holding on to what we knew;

it wasn’t ours, it wasn’t true.
